The Di Wood CureCell Scholarship
We are delighted to announce that we have awarded our first two scholarships to two outstanding examples of next-generation cell therapy researchers.
Two Di Wood CureCell Scholarships, valued at $5000 each, have been awarded to Emily Freimayer and Emma Roberts, both Honours students at the University of Adelaide.
Emma is studying genetically modified immune cells (chimeric antigen receptor T cells or CAR-T cells) and whether those expressing a particular signal are more effective at killing colorectal cancer cells than cells without this signal. Emily’s project is investigating the role of a range of molecules in regulating lung inflammation following influenza infection.
“We are very pleased to offer the Di Wood CureCell Scholarship to each of these outstanding students undertaking exciting research in the area of cell therapy,” said CureCell’s CEO Associate Professor Justin Coombs.
“CureCell uses the concept of ‘precision philanthropy’ to make sure funding goes to develop young researchers in areas that are crucial in moving the field forwards, and finding more cures for more people.”
